We understand the importance of having access to Suboxone medication. Over the past 24 months, we found that 75.5% of the pharmacies we contacted in Arizona reported having Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) in stock. For new patients to our Suboxone clinic, our team works closely with patients to find pharmacies that carry Suboxone in stock, and we keep track of it with our Pharmacy Finder tool so that we can share that information with other patients.
Medicaid providers in Arizona are part of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), which is the state's Medicaid program. AHCCCS works with contracted managed care organizations (MCOs) to provide healthcare services to Medicaid beneficiaries. These MCOs have networks of healthcare providers, including primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies, that accept AHCCCS insurance.
As an AHCCCS member, you can choose an MCO from the available options and receive healthcare services from the providers within their network. Some of the major MCOs in Arizona include United Healthcare and Mercy Care. These MCOs have established partnerships with various healthcare providers across the state to ensure access to necessary medical services near you.
Arizona has a state health insurance exchange called "Arizona Health Insurance Marketplace." It was established as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to provide individuals and families with a platform to compare and purchase health insurance plans. The Arizona Health Insurance Marketplace operates online where eligible residents can enroll in qualified health plans and access financial assistance, such as premium subsidies and cost-sharing reductions, based on their income and household size.
The Arizona Health Insurance Marketplace offers a range of health insurance plans from different insurance carriers, allowing individuals and families to choose the coverage that best meets their needs and budget. The marketplace also provides resources and tools to help consumers understand their coverage options and make informed decisions about their healthcare.
To access the Arizona Health Insurance Marketplace, individuals can visit the official website online or contact the marketplace's customer service for assistance. Open enrollment periods are typically held annually, during which individuals can enroll in or switch health insurance plans. However, certain life events, such as marriage, birth of a child, or loss of other health coverage, may qualify individuals for a special enrollment period outside of the regular enrollment period

This legal requirement is thanks to the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA). As a result, the majority of insurance plans offer some degree of coverage for medications for addiction treatment (MAT) and medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), including buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone). Similar to “physical health” benefits, mental health and substance use treatment benefits often have limitations. Depending on your plan, you may have to adhere to certain requirements set forth by your insurer.
